Uta von Buttlar, 1944 - 2019

According to an email from Uta's husband, Klaus Konagel, Uta passed away on Tuesday, September 17, in Hanover, Germany, while undergoing emergency treatment for a heart attack. Uta is survivrd by her husband and their son, Jannis. 

Uta and her husband were both architects. She worked 36 years as a city planner for the city of Hannover, Germany. Her attention to detail is evidenced by her travel log from the 2013 visit to the United States. (See Travel Log in the menu bar.)

Uta was a foreign exchange student and classmate during our senior year, 1963. Uta and Klaus came to El Paso in October, 2013, for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of our High School Graduation. Many of our classmates have wonderful memories of Uta from our school days and from the class reunion. I also had the pleaasur of meeting with her during two trips to Germany. She was always friendly and gracious, and always spoke kindly of her experiences and the people she met as a foreign excxhange student at Irvin High School.
